2 Days To Go! More Stretch Goals!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Nov 13, 2023 at 04:49:57 AM

Hey everyone,

Woke up this morning and took at a look at the project, and this is now SoulMuppet highest ever funding Kickstarter! Thank you all for your support and success. We've just about 60 hours left on the project, and there's room left to grow!

We're going to throw down a couple of new stretch goals, but first off, it's time to let you know about what we've been up to!

This magazine cover intro Heron Armilory, CEO and Co-Founder of Armillory-Dyson Arms & Engineering, one of the major NPCs in the Tennessee-Five adventure.

The Wanderer

We've got one last potential stretch goal. You've all been asking for solo rules for Orbital Blues, so we're making em!

At £85k, we're happy to announce Orbital Blues: The Wanderer:

Your Final Days in the Frontier Galaxy These are your final days as an interstellar outlaw. Your crew? Long gone. Your ship? Sold for the scraps that once held it together. You’ve seen death, abandonment, and betrayal. You’ve lied, cheated, and killed. You’ve made enemies, friends, lovers, and left more than one person holding the bag.

This is a game about reflection—about your final showdown with the troubles you’ve been running from. The Wanderer is a solo-play supplement for the famed game of sad space cowboys. With the addition of a deck of playing cards and a handful of poker chips, players will reflect on the life of an outlaw and reckon with their Trouble as they attempt to build the best poker hand possible.

Written by Elliot Davis, who played Ward Jackson on the My First Dungeon season, The Wanderer is One-part journaling game, one-part playlist builder, and 100% the Orbital Blues you know and love, The Wanderer brings a new tune to the frontier galaxy. The deck is stacked against you and you’ve only got one hand left. Make it count.

This will be a free PDF for every backer, and we'll add the zine as an add-on on both Kickstarter and Backerkit. You don't want to miss this one.

The smog covered skies of Ediston, shrouded in the yellow smoke of pollution that a planetary scale city would create.

Other Stretch Goals

Another thing we wanted to do as a stretch goal, but we passed the number before I could properly announce it, is a proper Orbital Blues character keeper. People are always asking for VTT support, but Orbital Blues isn't a game that thrives on fog of war or grid based combat. Instead, we're working with Ben Bond on an official OB character keeper. Ben worked on sheets for such amazing games as Brindlewood Bay and Public Access. They're so good, we wanted one too.

We've also got something secret schemed should we hit 100k... God forbid we manage such madness in this last 48 hours.

Streams

Last week our friends at Transplanarran Zach's adventure VOIDLOCK TOMBSTONE. This cagey affair of corporate black ops and ship scrapping was a real fun adventure, and we encourage you to check it out.

Those space cowboys are gonna be real sad (and also gay)

Tomorrow, the season finale of the My First Dungeon goes live! In Episode 4 Elevator to the Gallows, the various criminal parties of the Sutler System descended on the Undercarraige Car to watch a brawl between Jesse 'Red' Rhodes and Casey Parazzo, but little did they all know that our cowboys had plans of their own for the fight and had already thrown a spanner in the work.

Tune in to listen to You’re Gonna Carry That Weight when it releases tomorrow! It's all gonna come tumbling down, and it's going to be very very sad. Find it wherever you get your podcasts, and make sure to follow the team at My First Dungeon to get it directly on your device.

There’s not long left, please share widely, scream from the rooftops and we can shatter those final stretch goals and begin a new rebel era.

Speak soon,

~ Zach

7 days to go! Sad Cowboys all over the shop!
about 1 year ago – Wed, Nov 08, 2023 at 03:29:27 AM

We’re heading into the last week of the project and flying closer to our next stretch goal every day!

At £70k Jess Levine (Jumpgate Games) is adding an adventure to our VHS-inspired box set of adventures.

The Mathersons kept a wealth of heirlooms and hard currency constantly moving in an unmarked, nigh-impenetrable mobile fortress, its location thought lost with the Mathersons.
Luckily for you, a client of yours has located the fabled star-train, for a split of the gig of course.
Only you'll need a living, breathing Matherson to get inside… or at least someone with enough overlap to fool the detector. Pick your partner, board the barge, and bring back the bounty.

At £80K Chris Bissette (LootTheRoom) is bringing The Deltas back, this time with an experimental-jazz fueled album of swansongs.

Chris wrote the initial Deltas ep and we're so excited to have them back! Listen to the first album over on Spotify

At £90K we’ll get even more goodies for the boxset with a pamphlet adventure from Alyssa Ridley from Biscuit Fund Games.

Eight years ago, sixty foundry workers from the fuel world Akhebra attacked the corporate grain-ship Tooth to Tail while it lay in dock, armed only with scavenged weaponry and a ludicrous, impossible dream – and, to even their own surprise, they succeeded. Stealing a corporate ship from right under their oppressor’s noses, the workers launched Tooth to Tail in a hasty, one-way jump to the lush planet of Gentiana, permanently converting it and its agricultural supplies into an agrarian cooperative dubbed 3T. And, for a time, Tooth to Tail’s erstwhile owners, embroiled in a war as they were, had bigger things than a single ship to worry about.

But now, prideful and vicious after their victory, they're cleaning house. Deep in the scuttled holds of Tooth to Tail lie wartime records – the kind of dirty laundry that could pose a nightmare for a PR department should they be leaked. Following the blinking beacon of the grain-ship’s black box, mercenary teams have been sent to ensure these lost assets are permanently destroyed. They assure you, should any of the ‘squatters’ living in stolen property get in the way of company procedure… the galaxy surely wouldn’t miss them.

This week on… (Orbital Blues actual play)

We’re treated to a new episode of My First Dungeon, “Elevator to the Gallows”, where the crew of the 21st Night of September begin to answer an important question:What is it you want?

Listen wherever you get your podcasts! (Spotify | Apple Podcasts)

On Wednesday 8th November (7pm ET) TransplanarRPG will be exploring Voidlock Tombstone, written by our very own Zach Cox. Join the wonderful GM Connie Chang and the rest of the Hounds as they don new (cowboy) hats in this special one shot streamed over on twitch

Plus, you can watch Zach and Sam talk all things Sad Space Cowboys in this week's episode of The Weekly Scroll.

We’re just under a week until the project is over, so please widely share the project, let your friends know about the project. Things are gonna start heating up soon, and we’re hoping to escape orbit and blast through those final stretch goals!

about 1 year ago – Thu, Nov 02, 2023 at 04:51:57 AM

Another week, another update!

More Tunes!

We hit our £60k stretch goal, so it’s time to show off the goodies!

A mockup of the BE/HOLD cassette titled GODSPEED.
just look at it. isnt it beautiful??

Joshua has designed the new cassette for BE/HOLD’s album. Look how good it looks!! If you want this cassette, go over to the ‘Addons’ section and add it to your pledge. Every additional item pushes us closer to our stretch goal, and helps us unlock more gubbinz.

This is an entire cassette full of synth beats to space/cowboy to. If you just can't wait you can find FIVE of these tracks already over on Spotify or featured in this season of My First Dungeon.

 My First Dungeon

There is a brand-new episode from My First Dungeon so it's the perfect time to join the crew of the 21st Night of September!

After tracking down John ‘Tequila’ Rodgers, mid hold-up of the Sutler-47 Fuel Hub, our sad space cowboys have made their way to Irvine Industrial and the Undercarraige Bar. Casey Parrazo, bruiser for the Parrazzo Crime Family. One question is on everyone’s lips:

Where Is Indie Carter?

Having listened to it already, we can say with authority it’s the saddest episode yet of the season.

Creator Interview on Weekly Scroll

Head on over to the Weekly Scroll tonight, where Sam and Zach will be chatting all things Orbital Blues with the team. We’ll be chatting the backstory of making the original Orbital Blues book, the creative process behind Afterburn, the origins of Troubles and much, much more. We’ll be there at 7pm GMT tonight!  They'll also be playing Orbital Blues this Friday live on Twitch.

And then some more actual play tomorrrow!

Boys from the Baltic Star

If you're still itching for more Actual Play content this weekend "Boys from the Baltic Star" play through one of the new pamphlet adventures for Rogue Anthems. Nameless, Aimless by Kayla Dice features a town torn apart by two deadly gangs, both alike in notoriety and severity. They've been stuck in a deadlock for some time now, trampling over the steadily dwindling residents caught in between. It does seem to be a situation waiting for some strangers to come along and knock the whole thing over.

Cons

We are all knackered and our throats are sore from yelling “Sad Space Cowboys” but we met some amazing new people and our stand looked absolutely beautiful...

More stretch goals and further updates!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Oct 23, 2023 at 10:11:53 AM

Hey folks, we’ve nearly smashed through all three stretch goals that we previously announced! So we wanted to take the chance to say a huge thank you to everyone who has pledged, given their support and sent us kind words of encouragement, and tell you more about next stretch goals we've got planned!

We’ve currently unlocked the car-bumper style stickers and the online spaceship generator, and we’re just over halfway to the pay-rise stretch goal!

If you can’t wait to generate your spaceship and you’re attending MCM London this weekend then find us at stall number S1616 where the great wizard known as Jelly Muppet will gaze into your future and pluck the name of your ship from the time-stream!

In our last update we mentioned a couple of sponsored live streams by Girls Run These Worlds and StellaLunaTV. If you weren't able to catch the Actual Play streams live fret not! You can watch the replays here:
StellaLuna: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1957074828
Girls Run These Worlds: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1957074828
Zach also ran a session of Orbital Blues over on the PlusOneExp stream which you can watch the VOD here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0APsuFZUYE

The next episode of My First Dungeon comes out tomorrow so this is a perfect time to get to know the crew of the “21st Night of September” and it leads us perfectly into our next section…

More Stretch Goals!

Remember that amazing track in the trailer?

Showdown by Be/Hold

At £60k we’ll make a new cassette featuring 11 fresh new tracks by Be/Hold. If you want a sneak peek you might hear some of the tracks over on the My First Dungeon podcast. (As if you needed more reason to check it out!)

At £70k we’ll add another adventure to the VHS pamphlet box! Teaming up with Jess of Jumpgate Games who you may know from games such as “I Have The High Ground” or “Going Rogue”, Jess has pitched us something really cool, we'll just let it speak for itself:
As sunset fell on the great corporate war, so too did it fall on the Matherson Consolidated,
the whole family erased. Supposedly, the Mathersons kept a wealth of heirlooms and hard currency constantly moving in an unmarked, nigh-impenetrable mobile fortress, its location thought lost with the Mathersons.

Luckily for you, a client of yours has located the fabled star-train, for a split of the gig of course. You'd need a living, breathing Matherson to open the airlock but there's a short list of criminals with enough overlap to hopefully fool the detector. Pick your partner, board the barge, and bring back the bounty.

Again, we just want to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported us this far. It really means the word to all of us. We hope this project continues to smash through these stretch goals, so we can bring you more and more of this amazing work.

Campaign Funded! New Stretch Goals!
about 1 year ago – Wed, Oct 18, 2023 at 06:53:31 AM

First off we just want to say a massive thank you to all of you for supporting us in this project so far! To fund it in just over 3 hours is truly an amazing feeling and it is wonderful to see such enthusiasm for this game that the team all work so hard on.

We accidentally made the new Kickstarter exclusive "Rainbow" cover a little too exclusive so we want to take this chance to show it off again in its full technicolour glory!

the kickstarter exclusive cover!

You’ll be able to grab this one print run cover in the Billion Dollar Bounty pledge, or as an add-on to any other pledge.

So what's next?

We had an emergency meeting this morning, to plan stretch goals (and also celebrate our funding).

When we had a bit of a crazy idea…

"spacers have more fun" car bumper sticker designed by Joshua Clark

At £30k we’ll add some DIE cut bumper car stickers to every pledge above £100 GBP (that’s all those bounty pledges), or you can grab them as an addon for lower tiers.  They’ll be perfect for slapping on the side of your spaceship!

What do you mean you don’t have a spaceship?

Well I guess your laptop will do.

Everyone knows Zach has a huge pile of spaceship names, you can hear about it on the Interview with My First Dungeon. But we can’t put all 1000 of them in a book, right? Of course not.

At £40k we’ll make an ONLINE SPACESHIP GENERATOR to create encounters for the game and help you come up with NPCs on the spot. It’ll have a ship name (like the Sentimental Mood, the Rapa Nui or the Fan The Hammer), then some info about its captain and class, and what it’s doing in the big dark yonder. All in a little app thing! Nick Spence, from SoulMuppet’s cult classic Gangs of Titan City, will be adding some words to this one.

At £50k we’ll do one of the things we love most, paying our collaborators more. There will be a small pay rise for every freelancer creative on the project! These don't benefit you guys, but they do help the people people on the project

Actual Play content!

If you haven’t already, you can listen to Episode One of this season of My First Dungeon and meet the crew of the 21st Night of September as they begin their journey through the Outlaw Galaxy.

My First Dungeon presents Orbital Blues October 10th. Drakoniques, Carolyn Page, Shenuque Tissera, Abby Hepworth, Elliot Davis, Brian Flaherty
“In debt and on a deadline, five interstellar outlaws find themselves on a crash course with their pasts…”

Over the weekend we have TWO one-shot streams ready to explore some of the VHS pamphlet adventures!

On Saturday 21st October, Girls Run These Worlds make a quick stop at the Outlaw hospital ship Charon in “They Laurel The Graves of the Dead” by Gareth Hanrahan.

Then on Sunday 22/10 StellaLunaTV and the crew of the Belafonte explore the sand-blasted wasteland of "We Built This City On .repeat()” by Nathan Blades.

Keep backing, keep sharing, and see you soon space cowboys!
